Since BILD am Sonntag finally came out with the story yesterday (if you didn´t buy one, just head over to BILD.de to the online version - you really GOT to read it (it´s german though…), it´s really a wonderful article about the Achuar and the Amazonica Project!) - I can finally blog some pictures from my trip to the ecuadorian Jungle!
It´s really been an amazing trip, and words just can´t describe the things I have seen. And although I had an incredible time, I´m also sad, when I think about the future of this last haven of nature… Oil- & Wood-Companies just don´t give shit about neither this beauty of nature, nor the Achuar and their 2 million (!) fellow Indians! It´s just about the millions of dollars you can earn with the oil, that´s beneath their feet, and more millions with the trees, that are the home to the gods they believe in…
Mascha Kauka, who´s been fighting for the Indio´s for the last 20 years (!) really does an incredible job with her project Amazonica, and although getting threatened her life all the time, and even being kidnaped twice now already, she´s still fighting - and she will continue fighting! But now she definetly has one more supporter in me! What about you?

I´m back from the Jungle! It´s really been an incredible experience! I still don´t really know what to say, or even worse… what to blog… there´s just so much storys to tell! But there´s one thing I can tell you for sure -> AMAZONICA really does an amazing job, and I´m really proud to be a part of it! A big thanks goes out to Mascha, who´s been fighting for the Indios now for over 20 years! And thanks to Uyunkar Domingo, Nantu and all the people from the Anchuar for the hospitality!
Unfortunatly I can´t blog any of the pictures yet, since BILD am Sonntag will run an article on AMAZONICA this sunday, and I just happen to got lots of awesome pictures from BamS Photographer Christian Spreitz, so I can´t take any of those away, before the issue comes out on sunday. So I agreed to wait blogging any pictures until sunday! So check back here sunday for some really cool pictures from my trip to the ecuadorian rainforest!
But I already uploaded 2 videos - check them out!
The Internet Antenna launching ceremony (including the answer, why the Indians call me Ni Nawenak Ukutin …):
2) “Nabelschnurblut” will be the new SEO Battleground! (Don´t know what “Nabelschnurblut” is? Here´s a great Article about Nabelschnurblut)
1) “Sometimes it´s better to do nothing right, but everything wrong”
And now to the rest of my busy weekend… Without much sleep, I flew home at noon on saturday, and had to drive to Iffezheim (about a 3 hour drive), since our race horse Primo Vero was starting in the prestigious Lanson Cup at the Iffezheim Spring Meeting! Expectations where high, especially due to the lastest win in Frankfurt, and the quotes seemed to indicate us as a slight favour to win… but, due to a heavy rain about an hour before the race, the inside track, where we were starting from, was effectivly ruined, and the jockey Adrie de Vries was jammed in between the leading pack, never able to break free (or switch lanes to set up an attack). So on the last meters, he even stopped trying, since a win was out of question, leaving us in 7th place. The Winner “AirForce” was actually a huge underdog with a 145:10 quote (and Primo Vero just beat him in Frankfurt!) - congratulations to this great comeback!
Well, the season just started, and Primo Vero will race in about 7 to 8 other races this year, and definetly returning to Iffezheim in September for the Fall Meeting! Here a a couple of quick pics:
Lena Theresa should seemed to like her first trip to Iffezheim

Last sunday our race horse Primo Vero won the Metzler Private Banking-Rennen in Frankfurt!! Just one step ahead of Derek and New Life - Primo Vero´s first major win in its young career! And what an incredible last minute performance! First place paid only 3.000 Euros, but after a devastating 7th place in Iffezheim last year, Primo Vero could finally live up to its high expectations!
So expectations are now even higher for sunday´s race in Iffezheim, where Primo Vero will be a definite favourite to win (he will face three of the horses, that ran in Frankfurt!). Will be kind of tough for me, to drive to Baden-Baden right after coming home from SEMSEO / PubCon Hannover, but I wouldn´t wanna miss this race in the world!

SEOs for Charity Round II - My continuous support for the Münchner Tafel (I try to drive at least 3 times a month with them) is just not enough - there´s more good things to do for SEOs! Since my engagement for the Münchner Tafel is not really “related” to what I normally do, some people may consider it a waste of time, since I can´t contribute more (besides of my donations) but my brute work-force, although that´s really all they need on a day to day basis.
When I was searching for a next charity to support, I tried to find something more focused on my core skills -> the internet! And then a good friend of mine introduced my to Mascha Kauka. Some german folks might remember some of the fabulous comics the Kauka Verlag created in the past over 50 years, like Fix und Foxi and the famous Bussi Bär, which Mascha actually invented back then (how cool is that?!?!).
Mascha started a Foundation called AMAZONICA a while back to help the native indian people of the Ecuadorian jungle preserve and make enduring use of this most important global ecological forest system. After all, for millions of years nature has been the most perfect global network – now mankind follows with its own globalization. In a world globalized according to human standards the quality of our future life and economy will largely depend on the way we preserve the natural environment that we are all a part of!
The Indian peoples living in the Amazon jungle are best suited to protect their forest from destructive influences and to preserve it for mankind. They are ready to do it! So the AMAZONICA foundation built the Jungle Academy in the jungle of the Amazon basin! The first Jungle-Academy for Indian peoples and visitors from industrial nations. The academy’s directors are Achuar people with university degrees. They cooperate with professors, teachers and trainers from industrial nations. Hundreds of thousands of Indians in forest communities far from any roads are interested in education, health, production and ecological technologies. Compassion and reason command that we support these people because we all share the same future.
And now the AMAZONICA Academy is taking it´s next huge step -> They will get Internet access! We built an antenna at the Academy, to connect the staff & students to the internet!
Beginning of June I will fly to Ecuador, and into the Ecuadorian Jungle to visit the AMAZONICA Academy! Together with a reporter, and a photographer from germany´s biggest tabloid BILD am Sonntag we will officially “baptise” this antenna, and I´ll show the Indio´s how to use the internet!
So we will bring the Internet to the Ecuadorian Jungle
Everybody talks about future – AMANZONICA builds it!
Maybe we can even broadcast an episode of Webmasters on the Roof directly from the Ecuadorian Jungle! How cool would that be

Just a quick SMX MUNICH ROCKED almost-weekend-post…
It just really did!
If you´re one of the probably really few people, that missed out Webmasters on the Roof AllStars Panel LiveShow on WebmasterRadio, you can check it out here (it was mostly english, so no need for a german dictionary). The panel was really fun, and by far one of the best shows we ever had! Thanks so much to my congenial partner FridayNite, and the WotR AllStars Rand, Bob, Mikkel and Johannes for helping us out! And a big thanks to Alexander, Matthew & Sandra Finlay, for letting us broadcast live from SMX! You guys rock!!
The SMX SearchBash, which was co-hosted by the Webmaters on the Roof was also loads of fun, although at first only Rand and the lovely MysteryGuest hit the dance-floor, to dance to the special guest DJ-set of Bob “TerrorOnTheDancefloor” Rains.
Everybody seemed to have liked the party… well, everybody besides maybe this guy, who looks pretty scared (well, Bob is pretty scary …) -> check it out:
